password-protected posts
I’ve found a way to resolve some of my internal debate over self-censoring. Though I still have to hold back sometimes, I want to do that as little as possible, so I’m going to start password-protecting some posts.
This is largely based on the fact that when I want to bitch about something that’s really bothering me, there’s a 99.9% chance it happened at work. In this weird digital age, people get fired for their activities on the internet. While I don’t have anything to say that would violate the confidentiality agreement I signed with my employer, I – like most people – can often find some reason to bitch and moan about work*.
Excessive connectedness and a healthy dose of paranoia brought me to this decision. Plus, I link to this blog from Facebook, so that’s just a hop, skip and a jump for a coworker or a boss to bring them here.
I’ll admit it – when I see that someone has password-protected a post and they say “email me and I’ll give you the password,” I’m shy and don’t do it. However, I really want you to read it. This is the only place anybody ever pays attention to me! I want you to read it, and I want your feedback.
So if you know me in the real world (or via Twitter) and want to read any entry I put a password on, please please please email me for it (olivia[dot]quillen[at]gmail[dot]com). Ask and you shall receive!
People who needn’t apply are total strangers (how do I know that you’re not my boss?), coworkers, or people who voted for English Only. Ok, I can’t verify that last one, but still…
*I mostly really like my job, but nothing’s perfect.
