In my inbox today…
Next Tuesday we will elect the next President of the United States. The result will have great consequences for the nation.
This election offers a choice is between two men with dramatically different visions of the future. We have strong feelings about this choice. But we feel even more strongly that all Americans, regardless of political preference, have a stake in the outcome and should vote in this critical election.
This is likely to be a close election. Your vote matters. Please use it and make a difference.
Sincerely,

Good thing I voted early…
Robocop = Good, Robocalls = Bad
Most of the people that come here are probably already on the Obama mailing list, but I hate Rovian politics enough that I think it’s worth copying and pasting the most recent e-mail:

Olivia –
Voters in key battleground states are receiving automated phone calls from John McCain’s campaign that are spreading some of the most vile smears of this election.
But these “robocalls” — and the hate-filled mailers that usually accompany them — say more about John McCain than they do about Barack.
After all, McCain himself denounced these underhanded and cowardly tactics as “hate calls” after a rash of them sunk his primary campaign in 2000. The perpetrator behind that slimy attack: George W. Bush. Now, not only has John McCain embraced these sleazy tactics, he’s hired the same firm that Bush used against him to orchestrate them.
Your voice is the most powerful tool to help fight back against this tide of lies and spread the truth.
It’s clear John McCain would rather lose his honor than lose this election.
While there’s nothing new about these scare tactics, McCain has signaled he’ll stoop to any level to win.
There’s too much at stake to let the politics of the past derail this campaign. And with just 17 days to go before Election Day, the need to take a stand couldn’t be greater.
Reports from folks like you are the only way the full extent of these hateful calls and mailers will ever be known by voters across the country.
Expose John McCain’s slimy tactics — forward this email to everyone you know and make sure McCain’s “hate call” tactics get reported:

Together, we’ll turn the page on McCain’s low road tactics.
Keep fighting the good fight,

NO WIRE HANGERS EVERRRRRR!
I saw these EcoHangers on CNN today – I think this is a great idea all around. Environmentally, they’re a lot better than wire hangers and easily recyclable, plus the company that makes them will provide them free to dry cleaners since they make their money from the ads on the hangers.
Besides, as a McCain/Palin White House looks less and less plausible, are we really going to have a need for wire hangers?

I’m. Just. Tired.
I think election fatigue has finally hit me. I’m ready to get this thing over with. My suspicion about what brought this on is the increase in ignorant, racist rhetoric coming from McCain supporters (Kleinheider had this afternoon’s example, but I’m sure more will pop up before the day is out).
Some of these people would have been outright hatemongers anyway, but I think that some of them are those people who swear up and down that they’re not racist (we all know people like this) when they really are – and they’ve suddenly gotten the courage (read: desperation) to come forward with their disgusting views.
And I just can’t stand watching and listening to it.
I guess I’d better toughen up, though. I believe we’re headed for exactly what I want – an Obama presidency – but with that is going to come more of this absolute bullshit that we’ve been hearing all along and moreso this past week. Then again, it will probably die down a bit because this won’t hold the interest of the retard wing of the public for too long after the election.
I don’t know if I’m making sense. It all has me so exhausted.
EDITED TO ADD: Heh – apparently Michael Ian Black and I are on similar wavelengths. And I’m with him on the three Tuckers (though I still want to make out with Tucker Carlson).
